Naming documents:

Documents in other formats such as .htm, .doc, pdf etc that is attached with CT600 will get rejected by the HMRC gateway. Only HTML format is permissible. But how does error occur? When the iXBRL file is opened in any browser and saved in the local folder it may change the format to .htm. Besides, manually editing the html file with notepad application can also change the format. However these accounts error can be avoided.

Possible solutions:

Experts suggest that one should not use the ‘Save As’ button by not opening the XBRL file at all, but instead simply copy paste the files to the local folder. Alternatively, the file can be sent to any email using a zipped folder. The best way is to check the format before attaching to CT600. This way, tagging is also made easy and transfer is error free.
